How many of you who may travel to the country at the very least or if you live there get a bit scared while in that open space? There's nothing more terrifying then the thought of a horrifying saw mill like in thrillers or scary movies that could be somewhere around that area. I get a bit scared when I'm in the country at night time and that's mainly why I prefer the city. City life is so much more friendly, and pleasing to me. It's good to do a lot of associating with other people and my favorite place to live at is the suburbs. A lot of what takes the enjoyment out of someone who does not live in the city but in a populated area is the fact that it's nothing like the city itself if it's not the actual city. I guess what you would call these are populated towns, but far from cities. I grew up in the city of Charlotte, NC. I miss my time there. We moved away from Charlotte and to a town that has a decent population but is extremely boring to live at. I hope to get out on my own soon.

We live on 10 wooded rural acres. Everybody around here has at least that many acres as well. Even live on a dirt road. I grew up on acreage too & used to spend my time down the barn with our barn cats (strays that wandered in & adopted us). I always trusted animals more than humans. They would tell me if something was amiss. I grew up with animals & the sights & sounds of country life. HUMANS scare me as they can be unpredictable. I don't like the noise & crowds of the city or even suburbs. I like hearing birds singing, seeing stars at night without noise & light pollution.

No, I don't, to be honest. I am a country girl at heart and closely connected to nature. I find it soothing and peaceful living in the country.

Well, like Crocodile Dundee said, lol - the big city can be just as dangerous.

The only time I felt scared living in the country is when people started to riot in the cities and then began to spread out into other areas with their crime and attacks. I seriously considered purchasing a gun and hoped that other neighbors had guns too! I know all the Amish have guns so no one is going to mess with them. They won't want to shoot anyone but if they think they're being hurt you never know what will happen.

I don't live out in the country bt this is definitely something that would bother me. It would just be too lonely for me especially after living in a big city for such a long time. The last thing you want is to look out the window, see someone and know that help is a long way away!

To be honest, it's more about being not able to do what I want, rather than fear. I order everything online from groceries to food. Pretty much everything and in rural areas you wouldn't be able to get that service.
Even now, getting a cab after 7 PM will be hard around where I live so I bet in rural areas, you will have to get used to driving/riding your own vehicle for everything. Apart from that, I would love to go to such remote places as part of a vacation. I am sure I would love that experience for a month or two but not more than that.

Not of people, more of animals. When you take a walk down the driveway at night and you might run into a possum or raccoon.

I guess there are few places and times which are completely free of worry. I think part of the idea is to always maintain a bit of situational awareness, and not to let fear consume you. I'm in what is probably one of the safest suburban areas in the country, and we've still had our moments. You prepare as much as you reasonably can; you rely on observation and judgment for the rest.

it is cities that I cannot afford emotionally. Everybody is too busy.
The vacuum does not scare me, I enjoy it. I do not have the fear of the dark. But bad people, yes. We can take precautions though.

I don't like the city that much. I'm not scared in the country. At most, the only threat is getting bit by snakes out in the woods. Well, I suppose you could get robbed in some rural areas. It depends on the neighbors.
Well, one threat in rural areas is forest fires I guess.
